Cursor took VS Code, kept everything developers already know, and rebuilt the editing experience around AI. You can chat with your codebase, ask it to refactor a function, or hand off an entire feature to Agent Mode and let it edit files, run tests, and iterate until the task is done. It supports Claude, GPT, and its own Composer models, so you're not locked into one AI provider.
It's built for working developers, not hobbyists dabbling in no-code. The free Hobby tier is genuinely limited (a small number of agent requests before you hit a wall), so anyone using it seriously will end up on the $20/month Individual plan fairly quickly. Usage-based billing on top of that, especially for Bugbot and heavier agent runs, is where the real cost creeps in.
